A decision was taken by the senior Management of Project Gateway that although GCS is a project under Project Gateway, it would be beneficial to our parents, guardians and children if we launched our own school Facebook page and have our own Website.

Before the unprecedented lockdown period in South Africa which came almost at the end of the first term of learning in 2020, Gateway Christian School was well on its way to a very successful year. However we needed to cut the term short by a few days and send the children home having written Term one examination and we were able to send the reports to parents and guardians with the children.

Since then much has changed.  As Principal I have kept in touch with all teachers and administration staff on a regular basis.  We have discussed methods of teaching remotely bearing in mind that many of our children do not have access to technology in the townships where most of our children live.  Our teachers have been communicating with their learners through WhattsApp on a regular basis and we have been posting regular updates on our social media platforms.

One of the set-backs we have encountered during the lockdown is the difficulty some parents have faced in keeping up with regular payments of school fees.  This has created a difficulty in us honoring our monthly accounts as a school.  We appeal to anyone who would like to assist us to please contact us regarding the quickest and easiest way to donate towards our school.  This is open to South African donors as well as donors from overseas.

As we plan for the re-opening of our school, in line with Government regulations, we are sure that we will emerge from this lockdown even stronger than we were before.  We ask you to continue praying for our school and we give thanks to Almighty God for all that we have been able to achieve so far this year.

Principal – Mr. Mitchell  Clark
